Identification of a Human-Structure Interaction Model on an Ultra-Lightweight FRP Footbridge

Due to the high strength-to-weight ratio of fibre reinforced polymers (FRPs), human-induced vibration problematic remains as a subject be fully comprehended in order extend use composites Bridge Engineering. Thus, this paper studies an ultra-lightweight FRP footbridge, which presents excessive vertical vibrations when fourth harmonic walking pedestrian is synchronised with structure’s fundamental frequency. Focusing on bending mode, at 7.66 Hz, bridge dynamic behaviour was assessed under action single crossing facility step frequency 1.9 Hz. As over prediction footbridge response computed using moving force (MF) model available design guideline, mass-spring-damper-actuator (MSDA) system adopted depict walker. Hence, Human-Structure Interaction (HSI) phenomenon considered. Employing experimental results, parameters MSDA were identified, leading HSI that considers first harmonics human. Additionally, parametric analysis carried out, determining damping human body and load factor associated are most relevant estimation response. The identified may used approximation accurately predict composite structures should extended account for crowd-induced loads.
